TrichJournal is an app that allows people who suffer from Trichotillomania to document their urges for their own reflection. The user is able to document when they are pulling, where they are pulling, how many hairs they are pulling, the time, date, and many more including pull free days. The user can use that information in the app on the reflect charts to see when they pull the most and what is causing the pulling.

About the developer:
I am a 24 year old computer science student who suffers from Trichotillomania since the age of 11. Mostly my hair has been pulled from my eyebrows. Currently I dont have any eyebrows at all and have been told that a good way to track my pulling is by using a journal to document when, where etc. As most people dont carry journals around and they carry cell phones, I thought it would be a good idea to make an app for it. If anyone has any features they want me to add please email me at [email protected].

Here is a description on Trichotillomania from Mental Health America.

Trichotillomania is a body-focused repetitive behavior classified as an impulse control disorder (along the lines of pyromania, kleptomania, and pathologic gambling) which involves pulling out ones hair. Hair pulling may occur in any region of the body in which hair grows but the most common sites are the scalp, eyebrows, and eyelids.

Occurring more frequently in females, it is estimated that 1%-2% of adults and adolescents suffer from Trichotillomania. In general, Trichotillomania is a chronic condition that will come and go throughout an individual’s life if the disorder is not treated. For some individuals, the disorder may come and go for weeks, months, or years at a time.
